Dr. Sohaila L. Maleki – DVM

Dr. Maleki grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She received her Veterinary Doctorate degree from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and finished her clinical training from UW-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine in 2004. After graduation, she moved back to Boise with Dr. Linenberger to begin her veterinary career. She had originally moved to Boise in 1993 and always knew that it would be the perfect place to start a family and eventually open a veterinary practice. In 2007, Habitat Veterinary Hospital opened its doors. It was important for Dr. Maleki to create a unique environment that reflected her passion for the animals and their people in the Boise community. She stays committed to offering the highest quality medicine and providing options for the health and wellness of every pet. She provides every owner with the knowledge, education and support to be an integral part of their pet’s healthcare decisions.

Dr. Maleki is trained in acupuncture with the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS). She takes a preventative approach to medicine, integrating both traditional Chinese veterinary medicine (TCVM) and modern western therapies for complete holistic veterinary care for every pet. She has a great interest in geriatric medicine and implements a multi-modal approach to pain management with consultations on quality-of-life care. By focusing on nutrition, acupuncture and internal medicine, Dr. Maleki offers a safe and effective approach to enhancing the overall health and maintaining the best quality of life for her animal patients.

Since opening Habitat’s new location in Barber Station, Dr. Maleki has spent most of her time in a leadership role. She understands that a well-trained, optimistic and unified team is the key to building and maintaining a unique hospital culture and cultivating elevated medical care. Although she does not regularly see appointments, she makes sure every patient has the best medicine and treatment options available by training, educating and supporting the entire veterinary team.

Dr. Maleki and Dr. Linenberger also continue to balance their time between Habitat and their two busy teenagers. Rowan is an active and kind-hearted young man who loves lacrosse, skate/snowboarding and mountain biking. Finley is a smart and creative young woman who loves art, backpacking and hanging out with her friends. Both kids love to spend time with our Habitat family, their home away from home.
