Katie – Surgical Team Advocate

Katie discovered her passion for veterinary medicine at a young age. Drawn to animals from childhood, she was fascinated by the unique ways they communicate without words and found deep fulfillment in helping them heal, thrive, and strengthen the bond they share with the people who love them.

She began working in veterinary medicine at just 18 years old and has now dedicated more than 15 years to the profession. During her teenage years, she watched three beloved family pets navigate heart disease, kidney disease, and cancer. Experiencing the compassion of the veterinary teams who cared for them, while also helping her family understand how to care for them at home, transformed her lifelong love of animals into a calling to support both patients and pet owners.

Katie’s professional passions center on patient advocacy and client education. She especially enjoys caring for hospitalized and surgical patients, helping fearful animals feel safe through calm, compassionate handling, and ensuring every patient receives the thoughtful care they deserve. She also believes that empowering pet owners through education is one of the most meaningful ways veterinary professionals can improve the lives of both people and animals.

As an experienced technician and leader at Habitat, Katie is passionate about mentoring the next generation of veterinary professionals. She enjoys sharing clinical skills, building confidence, and creating an environment where teammates feel supported as they continue to grow.

Originally relocating to Idaho with her husband and two daughters in search of new adventures and a place to raise their family, Katie has come to love Boise and everything it offers. Outside of the hospital, she enjoys spending time with her family, exploring Idaho’s outdoors, biking, quiet morning walks in nature, and creating lasting memories together.

At home, Katie shares life with her husband, their two daughters, and a lively collection of pets that includes Ein, their spoiled corgi; Roy, their joyful three-legged golden retriever; Tigress, the family’s independent cat.

Katie was drawn to Habitat because its culture reflects her own values of compassion, education, teamwork, and meaningful relationships. She is grateful to be part of a team where exceptional patient care begins with caring for one another.
