This is not only an interesting situation, but a great reminder to be cautious of all toys that you let your pets play with. No pet should be left unattended with any toy, no matter how safe you think they might be.

JC, a one year old Cockatiel was presented for having a toy stuck in his beak.

After further inspection, we found the D ring type clasp that once connected JC's toy to his cage, was now looped through his lower beak! Poor JC had tried all night to remove the loop himself, but only became agitated, bloody and sore.

Lucky for JC, Dr. Linenberger was able to carefully remove the ring. After a short round of antibiotics and supportive care, JC is back to talking to his human family!
